How is an IPL/Photo facial performed?
Versa IPL treatment consists of directing Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) energy at the skin. The technology penetrates the skin deep enough to fight signs of premature aging including sun spots, discoloration, visible veins, fine lines and wrinkles.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the treatment?
Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams or make up before your session and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before your procedure. You must also avoid tanning including self-tanner’s lotion. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.
During an IPL treatment?
Just before an IPL treatment, you will be provided with protective eyewear and apply gel to the areas to be treated. During the treatment, the cool glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to the skin. A pulse of light is then delivered to the skin surface. You will experience a slight heat sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is very mild and easily tolerated.
After the IPL treatment?
Immediately following an IPL treatment, you may have some slight reddening of the skin which typically subsides within a couple of hours. Avoid hot baths, massages or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment. Sun damage spots and age spots temporarily darken and over the course of 1-3 weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade, leaving you with a clear complexion.
